A: You can start the social security disability claims process by calling the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 andschedule a phone or in office interview. If you have a phone interview, the local claim office will call you and take your claim information.

If you have an in-office appointment, be sure to arrive on time. If you don't, you will have to wait in line.
