Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some initial questions many clients have when they first contact Cavey & Barrett. The questions below may address many initial concerns you may have. If you don't find the answers here, you should contact us for answers to questions specific to your case. The consultation is free.

Social Security Disability (SSD)

  • Q: If I am on a Trial Work Period Will My Medicare Continue?

A: Medicare continues during both a trial work period, and an extended period of eligibility so long as you are medically disabled. An extended period of disability provides you a safety net for another three years as work continues.

If after this 36 month extended EPA period you are unable to make $980 per month your Social Security Disability benefits are started again without any need to file a new application.

You can retain your Medicare coverage for up to four and a half years after the end of the EPE.
