Social Security Disability (SSD)

  • Q: Why do I need a Social Security Disability Attorney?

A: Many Social Security Disability applicants go to a Hearing without legal representation. They are hoping that the Administrative Law Judge, will find them disabled. Overall, it’s obvious to anyone that can’t work. Unfortunately, it is not a good idea to represent yourself at a Social Security Disability hearing.

If you represent yourself, you most likely will never have reviewed your Social Security Disability file. If you do not know what is in the file, you do not know what evidence the Social Security Office has developed that would defeat your claim.

If you don’t know what’s in your file, you don’t know what information what information needs to be added to your file that will strength your argument that you are disabled.

At Cavey and Barrett, we develop all of your medical records and get statements from your treating physician establishing what your physical and/or psychiatric restriction and limitations are. That information is submitted to the Administrative Law Judge well before the hearing.

Secondly, you will not know anything about the decision history of your case. You will not know why your application for disability was denied, why your request for reconsideration was denied and what evidence needs to be developed to win your case.

At Cavey and Barrett we know how to argue that the Social Security Administration has misclassified your past work based on the information that you erroneously gave to Social Security about your job duties. At Cavey and Barrett we know how to argue, based on the medical evidence that your functional abilities are worse than what was determined by the Disability Determination Services. At Cavey and Barrett we know how to argue and in light of your limitations, age, education and work skills, you are capable of performing other gainful employment.

Lastly, Sharon M. Barrett, former Social Security Disability attorney, will prepare you for the hearing. She will have developed the medical vocational evidence necessary to strengthen your Social Security case, and will help you prepare for the questions that the Administrative Law Judge will ask you during the hearing.

In our experience, most unrepresented claimants simply don’t know how to develop the necessary evidence to win their Social Security claim or even know how to successfully make arguments to the Administrative Law Judge.

If you have been denied Social Security Disability benefits and are in need of an experienced Social Security Disability attorney, Sharon Barrett, for a free no obligation Social Security Disability consultation and also request our FREE No Obligation Social Security Disability Book.
