Over two thirds of the one million people in the United States who suffer from chronic fatigue are infected with XMRV. This study examined the blood samples from 101 chronic fatigue patients and compared them from samples of 218 healthy people. Over 67% of chronic fatigue sufferers had XMRV compared with less than 4% of the healthy people.
Ms. Mikovits was quoted as saying the XMRV could "explain the entire spectrum of symptoms that have come to be known as chronic fatigue syndrome," she works at the Whittemore Peterson Institute which was founded to help people with chronic fatigue. This shows that this virus was infectious and provoked an immune response in people with chronic fatigue.
This XMRV finding could lead to the development of treatment.
If you have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and have been denied Social Security Disability benefits, we suggest that you contact Pasco/Hillsborough/Pinellas County Social Security Disability Attorney, Sharon Barrett, for a free, no obligation consultation.
