Somthing has to be done to change the ERISA laws. I had a 15 year career in the Pharmaceutical Research Industry and before that 20 years as an X-Ray
This past July 14, 2009, I became disabled and had a priviate insurance through my employer. Although voluminous letters and records were sent by my 2 specialists to verify this, it claim was denied, re-opened, then denied again and is now in appeal. I went from $89,000 a year to my home in foreclosure, my car about to be repoed, no medical insurance, no money for Rxs, electricity, water, food, etc.
The ERISA laws entital these companied to get millions of dollars and all laws protect them and not the insured. My life is at a critical point and I have even contemplated suicide. I spoke to an attorneys office and they explain that once trhe claim is denied and in appeal, there is a 99.9% chance of denial again. Please look into these horrible laws. These companies are make millions off of premiums and we are getting nothing. I am very sympathetic of the poor people in Haiti, but what about Americans in crisis? Where is my bailout? I have paid taxes for almost 40 years and I am now destitute!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!
