What is SSDI?
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), provides cash assistance to people who have paid into the Social Security system long enough to earn what is called quarters of coverage. Social Security Disability is a federal insurance program that was established in 1954. It provides monthly benefits for people who have worked in the past, pays Social Security tax and are unable to work for a year or more because a medical condition.
The diagnosis of celiac disease involves three steps:
Your physician will take a medical history from you and include information about your symptoms and your emotional state.
Your doctor will perform a physical examination to check for and list emaciation, hypertension, high blood pressure, dermatitis, easy bruising, bone scan, mucus membrane changes, vitamin deficiency, loss of sensation in the extremities including vibration, and light touch, muscle spasm, bone tenderness and pain.
Your doctor will also do a celiac blood panel or cascade. These tests will include, serological tests and tolerance tests to measure your digestion and absorption.
- If your clinical signs and laboratories indicate a problem in the amount of absorption, a biopsy on your small intestine with be complete. A small biopsy instrument will pass down your throat and down into your stomach, where a snippet of small intestine tissue will be taken for examination under a microscope.

It’s hard enough to get long term disability benefits, but you can destroy your long term disability claim by posting photos or video of you dancing, working in the yard, or partying with your friends.

If you are a long term disability policy holder, you should get your disability policy out immediately and review it because you may have an offset provision. Your Allsup policy may say that a long term disability carrier can reduce your long term disability benefits by the receipt of your Social Security Disability benefits. But, what happens when you get a retroactive Social Security benefit? Your long term disability carrier, such as CIGNA, may ask
you to sign a repayment agreement that requires you to repay any over payment.

However, many long term disability carriers will have you sign an agreement that allows them, or an authorized Social Security representative, such an Allsup, to withdraw a “amount not exceeding the obligation from the account identified below on or after the date my Social Security award is deposited in the account”.

If you signed a pre-authorized withdrawal form and agreement, you should cancel it immediately by sending written notice to your insurance company, the Social Security representative company, such as Allsup or your financial institution.
Why you still will be obligated to repay any overpayment, you want to be in control over that repayment. Particularly, since it’s so common to have a dispute about the amount of the overpayment.
